到底应该如何翻译才合适？如果按直译的话似乎是“我们也没有注意到我们的英国同胞们”，百度翻译就是这样翻译的，意思是否认，我们没有顾及，但我看到所有中英对照的全文翻译在翻译这句话时都是翻译成“我们不是没有顾念我们英国的弟兄”，是个双重否定句，也就是意思成了肯定了，我们有顾念到，但这和直译好像矛盾啊。按逻辑来推论确实应该是像后者那样翻译，不是没有顾念，也就是顾念到了，但原文直译又像是否定的意思，为什么会有这样的矛盾？是我理解错了，还是别的什么原因？能有英语达人帮我具体解释一下这句话的翻译问题吗？

你看到的中文翻译不对。

这句话的前文是这样的：
A Prince, or the artist formerly known as, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.
Nor have We been wanting in attention to our British brethren.

Nor 对应的是[is unfit to be the ruler of a free people] 这句是说 We haven't been wanting in attention to our British brethren either. 也就是 We haven't wanted to draw the attention of our British brethren to ourselves.
大意是：而我们一直也没有想让我们的英国兄弟关注我们。（也就是我们的事务一直都不需要你们来搀和)

前文是 is unfit to be the ruler of a free people 意思是不配作自由人民的统治者的。前面是一个否定，所以后面用nor ，表示我们如果这样做，也是不被肯定的，
