这一个句子的句首应该是Mary and I 。在英语中，人称的排列是“你他我”。但如果所叙述的事情是不好的事情的话就反过来。这个和中文中的你我他是不一样的。
——Where are their coats?
——It's on the desk.
问句中提问的coats是复数。故答语中的主语应该忠实原句。即改为They're on the desk.
