Abstract:The soluble mult-i walled carbon nanotube (MWNT) is prepared by heating the mixture of original MWNT with concentrated nitric acid. The acid-treated MWNTs can be dispersed into water to form very stable black aqueous colloids with the help of ultrasonication. The interaction of MWNTs colloid with cationic dye Nile Blue results in the adsorption of of Nile Blue on the surface of collidal particles, which is proved by the changes of UV-Vis and Fluorescence spectra. The adsorption action leads to the coagulation of the sol and the coagulate is characterized by electrochemistry. The results show that Nile Blue is adsorbed on the surface of MWNT colliodal particles through both electrostatic and hydrophobic interaction.
